The Victorian Room
The Victorian Room has a great historical significance for Austin, Texas. Not only did it originally house the American National Bank of Austin, but it was also the location for the city's first television and first radio stations. Additionally, the first telephone in Austin was located just outside the doors of The Victorian Room.
A recent remodeling of this space incorporates many details from the Victorian era, including walls with hand-troweled plaster, a majestic staircase, stained-glass windows and decorative iron railings forged from the bank's original teller windows. The Victorian Room occupies a prominent space in The Driskill Hotel at the busy corner of Sixth and Brazos Streets.
