One of our favorite things about autumn in Austin is the Austin City Limits Music Festival. We’ve watched this annual event flourish year after year, and for the first time in ACL history, the festivities will span across two weekends! As you prepare for your journey to the Live Music Capital of the World, or perhaps you’re already here, there are plenty of last minute planning tips available to help maximize your festival experience- here are a few of ours.
Read on for The Driskill’s Guide to ACL Festival 2013:
There are still weekend one and weekend two passes available, visit ACL Festival online to view ticket options and purchase your tickets.
BY CAR: If you're brave enough to battle the traffic and bring your car, there will be reasonably priced garage parking available at One Texas Center for FREE on Friday, October 4 and Friday, October 11 after 5PM. On Saturday & Sunday (both weekends), parking at One Texas Center will cost you $10 per day.
The Palmer Events Center will also have parking available, however, space is limited. For general information, contact them at (512) 404-4500. There is NO parking at the Festival site, and various streets in the surrounding neighborhoods will be closed to avoid overcrowding.
METRO: Capital Metro is offering a FREE shuttle service to and from the Republic Square, which is located on 4th and Guadalupe, in the heart of Downtown.
BIKE: Biking is the most highly encouraged mode of transportation (this is Austin, after all). There will be bike racks available Festival Entrance, however, you'll need to bring your own lock. Mellow Johnny's will have bike stations set up- so if you forget your lock, get a flat, or need a part, they'll be there to help.
For more information about getting to and from the festival, visit ACL Festival online.
There won't be any movie theatre style nachos and carnival cotton candy at this event! ACL has partnered with more than 35 premiere local restaurants to offer visitors everything from traditional Texas BBQ to fresh vegetarian and gluten-free items.
For a complete list of food vendors and menu items, visit ACL Festival online.
There are hundreds of musicians playing on multiple stages, including late-night shows and various shows around town; the best way to optimize your concert strategy is to review the lineup online or download the official 2013 mobile app.
