The Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas boasts some of the most impressive culinary accolades in the hospitality world, including being named a Top 25 Hotel Restaurant in the United States. In keeping with our rich culinary traditions, 2011 marked a landmark occasion; The Driskill hosted an episode of Bravo TV’s Top Chef Texas.

Contestants competed in both a quick fire and an elimination challenge and guest judges Patti LaBelle and Emeril Lagasse assisted Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio in their critiques. The chefs were challenged to incorporate the roots of their passion for cooking into their dish in a meaningful and tasteful way. This exercise encouraged participants to be both innovative and reflective, while forcing them to act with a high sense of urgency.

This technique can translate across industry lines and makes for a wonderful platform at business meetings. A Top Chef style meeting at The Driskill Hotel, complete with tables, ingredients, and portable cooking devices, can serve as an excellent exercise in team building and innovative thinking. Sharing the dishes among meeting attendees is an added bonus after the competition!

Allow us to set the stage and take care of the prep work so that your attendees can experience Top Chef first hand at The Driskill Hotel.
