Last weekend The Driskill’s Executive Pastry Chef Tony Sansalone was presented with a unique wedding cake challenge: create a custom cake that pays homage to the bride’s familial roots in Africa while embodying the couple’s  “around the world” wedding theme.

The bride and groom found a variety of unique ways to incorporate their passion for travel into their special Downtown Austin event; passport style invitations and a menu inspired by cuisine from around the world offered guest’s a glimpse into their shared love of adventure. The real showstopper and culmination of this fall wedding was Pastry Chef Sansalone’s final product: a multi-tiered wedding cake with rich layers of The Driskill's Signature 1886 Chocolate cake, decadent scratch-made chocolate mousse and freshly sliced strawberries enveloped in intricately painted layers of fondant.
