Tje Austin to Host Live @ The Driskill - the HAAM Sessions

In 2011, Tje (pronounced TYE) auditioned for NBC's smash hit The Voice, where he made it past the blind auditions singing "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. Tje then landed himself on Cee Lo Green’s team and “his smooth control reminded the judges of Cee Lo himself.” Tje’s strong voice and his signature afro quickly made a big impression on Cee Lo and a national television audience.

“We are thrilled to have Tje join Live @ The Driskill- The HAAM Sessions” said Brett Boreing, Driskill Hotel Director of Sales & Marketing. “Tje truly represents the best of Austin and is an avid supporter of HAAM. We all look forward to supporting Tje and scores of local artists as they  entertain from the Driskill stage and make an impact towards giving Austin-based musicians access to quality healthcare.”

Thursday’s event will feature the following Austin-based musicians: Karl Morgan at 5:30PM, followed by Dawni McCray at 6:45 and the Tje Austin Trio at 8:00PM. In addition to over four hours of live music, the hotel will offer a customized tavern and mixology menu featuring Driskill Executive Chef Jonathan Gelman’s unique perspective on HAAM-burgers, HAAM & Cheese, HAAM-strings and of course, The Cure. 35% of proceeds from this menu will be donated to HAAM. There will also be opportunities to donate directly to HAAM, live social media feeds and, of course, a great atmosphere. There are no admittance fees.

The Driskill

The 189-room Driskill Hotel was built 125 years ago as the showplace of Cattle Baron Jessie Driskill. One of the oldest historic buildings in the state, The Driskill stands as a landmark of Texas hospitality. Over the years, The Driskill has hosted inaugural balls for many Texas Governors and lavish events for international dignitaries. It was a favorite of President Lyndon Johnson who held many election night events at The Driskill and where he took the future Lady Bird Johnson on their first date.

The hotel features a Historic Wing with soaring ceilings, elaborate woodwork and balconies and a Traditional Wing that was built in 1929 featuring art deco design elements that capture the vibrant colors of the Texas Hill Country. Guests can choose from fine dining at the five-star Driskill Grill that is consistently rated among the best restaurants in the state or the 1886 Café and Bakery featuring all day dining and savory pastries. The hotel also offers more than 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a 24-hour business center and fitness studio with massage treatments rooms. The legendary Hotel is situated at the epicenter of Austin’s business and entertainment districts at the corner of 6th and Brazos Street, conveniently located within walking distance of the capitol building and convention center.
