It's Scary Times at The Driskill Hotel

AUSTIN, TX-Oct. 23, 2008-Things that go bump in the night tend to get a bit more active this time of the year at The Driskill, long known as the "most haunted hotel in Texas" and declared by AOL this week to be one of the "world's best haunted hotels."

The tragic Houston bride...the Senator's daughter...the revelers for whom the party never ends. Hear tales of the legendary spirits that reside eternal within The Driskill's hallowed walls and corridors. On an evening known for mystery, guests might experience some unexplained occurrences when they reserve an All Hallow's Eve Driskill After Dark package.

Along with discounted rates on accommodations, guests brave enough to check in for Halloween receive complimentary ghost tours of the hotel led by guides from Haunted Texas tours. In addition, they will find trick or treats at turndown and a RIP pass to the hotel's popular Sixth Street Balcony for a bats-eye view of the costumed madness below.

A special Witches Brew Tea is served in the hotel's Grand Lobby on Saturday, Oct. 25 and again on Halloween, Oct. 31 from 3-5 pm. The menu includes an assortment of appropriately named tea sandwiches-Pumpkin Patch, Spider Web, Creepy and Ghostly-along with marzipan jack-o-lanterns, meringue ghosts, bat-wing petit fours, spider cream puffs and spiced Witches Brew Tea. The cost is $25 per person and $12.50 for children (tax and gratuity are not included). Costumes are encouraged. For reservations, call 512-391-7121.

Executive Chef Jonathan Gelman and Pastry Chef Tony Sansalone work their magic for Halloween Dinner at the Haunted Driskill Hotel. The chef's five-course tasting menu, served in the award-winning Driskill Grill, includes Monster Maitake Mushrooms, Hatchet Chop of Venison and the Devil's Chocolate Crunch Bar (menu attached). The fright night dinner is $85 per person or $135 with wine pairings. Reservations are available by calling 512-391-7121.
